StackIt – Split a Credit Card Bill Across Multiple Cards

Context

When I joined the Stackit project, the idea was bold but clear

“What if a user could pay one credit card bill using multiple credit cards?”

Globally credit ecosystem, juggling 2–5 cards is common. But when a large bill hits like rent or travel expenses users often find no single card has enough limit. They resort to EMI conversions or late payments, both financially damaging. We set out to rethink bill payment entirely, turning it into a more flexible, user-controlled experience while ensuring instant, full settlement for merchants.

The Problem

Many users juggle multiple credit cards. When a large bill arrives no single card may have enough limit. Users either

  • Take loans or convert to EMI (with high interest), or
  • Miss payments, hurting credit scores

There’s no product that allows a user to combine multiple cards to pay one bill quickly and intuitively.

The Opportunity

Build a product that

  • Lets users set split limits across multiple cards
  • Pays the full amount to the biller in real-time
  • Gives merchants clarity and control over payment tracking
  • Makes bill payment smarter, not stressful

My Contribution

  • Defined end-to-end UX for both User and Merchant
  • Created user side web dashboard for customer & merchants
  • Developed complete brand identity
  • Built a modular component library

Brand Overview

Stackit is a smart and flexible fintech platform that allows users to split a single transaction across multiple credit or debit cards, making it easier to manage high-value purchases and optimize card usage. Whether you’re booking an expensive trip, paying tuition, or making a large online purchase, Stackit empowers you to divide the total cost between different cards—based on available limits, interest rates, or rewards preferences. This gives users more control over their finances, helping them avoid maxing out any one card or missing out on benefits like cashback, points, or travel rewards.

Beyond just splitting payments, Stackit offers a clean, user-friendly dashboard where users can set exact amounts for each card, monitor their payment activity, and keep track of credit utilization. It’s a great tool for anyone who juggles multiple cards and wants to maximize rewards while minimizing stress. For businesses, it can also reduce friction during checkout by offering more flexible payment options to customers. With a focus on security and compliance, Stackit encrypts all payment data and ensures safe transactions across the board. It’s a simple yet powerful solution for modern consumers who want smarter ways to pay.

What I learned?

Although this project is still under development and pending user testing, working on Stackit has already taught me a great deal about designing for complex, two-sided fintech systems. One of the key takeaways was learning how to balance the needs of both users and merchants while keeping the experience seamless across mobile and web. I also gained deeper insight into the importance of trust in financial UX where even a small visual or copy inconsistency can impact user confidence. Creating a scalable design system early helped me work more efficiently and maintain consistency as the product evolved. Simplifying the logic of splitting a bill across multiple cards into a clear, intuitive flow was a rewarding challenge. Lastly, applying brand colors and tone cohesively across UI, components, and illustrations sharpened my ability to translate identity into product design.
